Welsh Hip Flasks
We sell a small collection of Welsh inspired hip flasks. These include the famous Welsh Dragon, The Welsh Flag and we have hip flasks that use both the words Wales and Cymru.
The Welsh Dragon
The Welsh Dragon – Welsh: Y Ddraig Goch (“the red dragon”)– appears in bold red on the national flag of Wales. The flag as it happens is also called Y Ddraig Goch. The Historia Brittonum which was written around AD 829 this contains the oldest recorded use of the red dragon to symbolise Wales, however the popular story of its use is based around it being the battle of standard of King Arthur as well as other ancient Celtic leaders.
The Welsh see the red dragon as symbolising all things Welsh, and so this wonderful image is used all over Wales by many public and private institutions.

Welsh (Cymraeg or y Gymraeg) is a Celtic languages spoken natively in Wales, Welsh is known as one of the Brythonic branchs of Celtic, this language is spoken by some along the Welsh border in England and is making a strong comback in Wales where children are taught the language at school. This language is also spoken in Y Wladfa which is a Welsh colony found in the Chubut Province, Argentina. The Welsh language has historically been known in English as “the British tongue”, “Cambrian”, “Cambric” and “Cymric”
One of the symbols of Wales is the humble leek, it is said that St David advised the Britons to wear leeks in there caps or hats so they could distinguish themselves from their foe the Saxons. A great victory was won and the leek is now firmly rooted in Welsh history and worn on St Davids day. We don’t have any ‘leeky’ hip flasks I’m afraid.

2. The Welsh.
It was during Roman times that this region was known as Cambria, nowadays most people know this country found in the United Kingdom simply as Wales or Cymru in Welsh. With Wales to the West, Scotland to the North, England and Ireland these four countries make up the countries of the United Kingdom.
