Irish Harp
The Irish Harp or more commonly known as The Celtic harp is a triangular harp traditional to Brittany, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Although the harp is traditional to other countries as well as Ireland most people throughout the United Kingdom link the harp with Ireland. The continued use of the harp image on products such as Guinness has pushed the image into the mainstream and thus for linked the harp symbol strongly to the Irish more so than any other country. Of course the symbol of the Harp has been used throughout Irish history on many of it’s flags. The harp is also used in some county coat of arms.
The Claddagh ring
The Claddagh ring or fáinne Chladaigh in Irish is a ring given which represents love, loyalty, and friendship, it is heavily steep in tradition and has been in production since at least the 17th centuary in its current form although it is thought to have been in use before this period. The ring is made up of the hands that form a ring holding a crowned heart, the hands represent friendship, the heart naturally represents love, and the loyalty is represented by the crown.
The reason the ring is known as the Claddagh ring is very simple really, the design of the ring and customs originated in the Irish fishing village of Claddagh. Claddagh is situated near the beautiful city of Galway and is actually now part Galway City as the city limits were extended.
Slainte Sláinte or slàinte (slahn-chə) is a word literally translating as “health” and is commonly used as a drinking toast in Ireland and Scotland.
We also stock a great selection of Irish flag and Irish Shamrock hip flasks including a stainless steel range which is hard wearing and well made, not forgetting some good old luck of the Irish flasks.
Really make your new Irish hip flask stand out by picking one of our engraving fonts and making your flask personal.
